Share Savings Accounts:

Traditional
The Traditional IRA* is funded with pre-tax dollars. Anyone under age 70½ can contribute (as long as he/she has income from compensation). Certain contributions are tax-deductible and certain distributions are penalty-free.

Roth
The Roth IRA* is funded with after-tax dollars. Contributions may be withdrawn any time, tax and penalty-free. Certain earnings may be withdrawn tax and penalty-free under a variety of conditions. Required minimum distributions are not required after age 70½. There is no maximum age limit for making contributions.

Coverdell Education Savings Accounts
(formerly Education IRA)
The annual contribution limit for the former Education IRA, now known as the Coverdell Education Savings Account*, is $2,000 per child, per year.
There are tax and penalty-free withdrawals for qualified educational expenses and withdrawals are allowed for both primary and secondary education as well as college expenses. |
